- A native Dominican first found larimar on the beach, where it had washed down from the mountains. They named the gemstone Larimar, combining the name Larissa (said to be the Dominican islander’s daughter), a young woman with brilliant blue eyes, and “mar”, the Spanish word for the sea.
- Larimar is a real natural stone created by nature. Each stone is unique and will have a slightly different color pattern. Each stone is equally beautiful.
